Yes, it is forever rest for our fathers and others' fathers lost their young lives with the sunken Shinsei Maru.

Thanks for collecting and documenting all the information in this blog.

Thanks for your labors and hard works on this blog. Those who lost their lives 63 years ago may smile at you in Heaven.

Dear Eye Doc:

Thank you for your efforts to document the historical events of 1/12/1945 when hundreds of Taiwanese doctors and medical personnel perished in the sunken ship.

The tremendous lost and suffering for the surviving families are indescribable.

May the peace and comfort of the Lord be with us.

A suffering life along with the sunken Shinsei Maru.

Dear BH and MH:

A friend sent a message: "我們心中紀念的人們, 一定也不願意我們痛苦."

Our fathers would have wanted it that way.

Take good care of yourselves.

Dear all:

This blog reminds me of my dad and a hymn,

Come, ye disconsolate

Come, ye disconsolate, wherever ye languish; come to the mercy seat, fervently kneel.

Here bring your wounded hearts, here tell your anguish; earth has no sorrow that Heaven can not heal.

憂傷的者來就主

憂傷的人快來、無論在何地;來到施恩座前,虔誠屈膝。

呈示創傷的心,傾訴你苦悲; 世上的憂傷,天上總能醫。

God bless!

Nice shot - baby pics are the best. I am wondering about your dad's clinic, about 50 meters from the MacKay Hospital? On what street was (is) it? Or, at least, in what direction. I will hunt it down next time I'm out in Danshui.

I like your blog; there seems to be an interesting yet tragic narrative unfolding around this day in 1945. It'll be interesting to see where it takes us.

Dear Patrick,

Thank you for your offer.

The site of my father's hospital and my childhood home is now occupied by an "Amanda Cafe" in the front facing Chung Cheng Road, and a TCM clinic in the back on the same street as the Mackay Clinic. I went to the kindergarten inside the Presbyterian Church of Danshui.

With the blog, I hope to reach the surviving Shinsei Maru physicians and the surviving families of those who went down with the ship.

Thank you for your comments.
It is a very nice picture of yours with the historical carriage?

Thank you for providing so much more information about that tragic year 1945 from your grandpa's perspectives.

Also I've read your comments on this blog with great interests and appreciations.

Thanks a million!

God bless you and yours,

I know that cafe; it's just down the way at the end of the lane, on the intersection.
